Crackdown 2 was a game I was really looking forward to. I played the first one for a countless amount of hours and was ready to immerge myself in the sequel. I must say that I’m impressed with the improvements, but it’s not everything I was expecting.
Graphics
The graphics aren’t anything to look forward to. They’re the exact same way they looked in the first one. Maybe more pixels here and there to fill some things out more, but not much to speak of. I wish they’d have done some overhauling on the graphics system to go for a more 3D look instead of just the cartoon appeal, but you don’t always get what you hope for.
Gameplay
The gameplay has some good improvements. I was a little more pleased with firing a gun, although it still likes to lock onto targets that aren’t of your choice. Other than that, the movements seem pretty fluid, cars are very responsive and the enemies seem to have a better sense of what they’re doing. I honestly died quite a few times getting used to things including the improved AI.
Sounds
Pretty much the usual. I don’t think there’s a whole lot you can say about the sounds in a game. Just like before, I rarely listen to the soundtrack because I always have my own music playing beside me on my PC. So, sorry, I don’t have much of an opinion on the sound effects.
Overall Rating 7.5
I’d rate the game fairly well, maybe a 7 or 8. The gameplay and everything is there, but it still feels like something is missing from the game. You still do a lot of the same thing and it gets repetitive very easily; kill a gang here, turn on a beacon there, blah blah blah. If you’re looking for a sandbox game to play, but you’re not sure if Crackdown 2 is for you, I’d rent it first.
Nice review, Aphelion. I can’t say I’m too psyched to play this but I will get to it. We’ll see though.
Thanks man. I’d say it’s worth a play, but not much more than that.
it was decent when i was playing it with you brent, but i think its more of a game id play just to beat then to enjoy.
Exactly. It’s nothing to get excited about and in my opinion has very little replay value.
